Song story and background information

Andrew Morrison's ambient dance remix of The Ayatollah's legendary "lost" second version of 'I Committed Suicide Last Thursday'.

'I Committed Suicide Last Thursday' has in fact been recorded three times (each with different lyrics). The original version was written and recorded in what The Ayatollah describes as his "confusion years". The third and definitive version was recorded in 1997 by The Ayatollah and his complete "ministry". In 1993 however, when out in Germany with Fußgängerzone, The Ayatollah recorded the second version in solitary confinement. The master tapes of this version have since been lost, and the track was never released - only this remix by Andrew Morrison remains, which includes just the one sample of Rollah's voice from that missing version. This mix is generally regarded as being totally different from that second version of the song, as it has been turned from a raucous rock song into an Aphex Twin styled ambient dance track, with a slow build up into eventual break beats and atmospheric soundscapes.
