Background:
The Chinky Mental Daves came to light after touring Pompey with their 'The Frank & Walters' tribute act in the early nineties.  Founder band member Partrick Thistle was Eire born and bred, but moved to Portsmouth in the seventies to work in its historic dockyard.  His affinity for Ireland runs through him, and The Frank & Walters represent to him the very best of all things Irish.  Diarmuid Flannel was a drunkard who spent most of the eighties in jail for GBH and armed robbery.  The band only released the one EP of cover versions on Frostbyte, preferring the thrill of live performance to the sterile atmosphere of a recording studio.
