Fußgängerzone's self-financed
'Fuzzbox Wah' World tour was in full effect by April, but 1996 was
a low key year for Frostbyte, as Andrew attempted to keep the company afloat,
while remastering his own old material for his first album. Artists
on the label had reportedly been head hunted by other record companies,
and Andrew had to constantly reassure them that he could turn around their
fortunes. This was not helped by a freak electrical fire which occurred
at Viewpoint Studios on April the 22nd. The fire raged for several
hours, and required assistance from many neighbouring counties' fire services.
Although arson had been suspected by Viewpoint's insurance company, no
evidence was found, and Andrew managed to salvage some equipment, and was
able to rebuild the studios during the remaining months of 1996.

The 'Fuzzbox Wah' tour was a renowned success,
and the later stages of the tour were marked with a dramatic turn of events.
While on the Middle Eastern leg of their long tour, the band played a sell
out concert in Cairo. During sets by the two warm up acts The Celestial
Anthropoids and Etch-A-Sketch Warhead, the band's head of security The
Ayatollah Of Rock 'n' Rollah was escorting a head-locked intruder from
Birgitte's dressing room. As this intruder was about to be chucked
down the stairwell, Ludwig overheard his cries of "Unhand me you oaf, I'm
the Cat!!". Seconds before this man was to be left for dead at the
foot of the stairs, Fußgängerzone realised that this was the
phoenix-like return of Frostbyte Records mogul Big Bad Fat Cat Benjamin...
In the remaining few minutes before the
band's set, BBFCB (still locked in a full nelson by an Ayatollah reluctant
to release his kill) briefly explained where he had been all this time
- he'd simply fallen in love!
The mystery red head he had been spotted
with was a female body builder from Bucharest also on the cruise.
After flirting with her and courting her over a few nights on the ship,
Benjamin came to realise that the only thing missing from his busy life
was the love of a good woman.
Unfortunately, this wasn't a good woman.
They indulged in a shotgun wedding and
set up home in Cyprus, but his new bride Marlena Fat Cat Benjamin-Popescu
soon began "milking him dry" and spending Ben's vast fortune behind his
back.
After the concert, he explained that he'd
seen the errors of his ways, and had vowed never to let himself fall victim
to his emotions again. He wished to return to Portsmouth with Fußgängerzone
and relaunch Frostbyte Records - with a ruthless business attitude seldom
seen before...
